Some of our 2015-16 highlights, we:

  • adopted governance changes with a new advisory group and national committee structure to ensure expert advice supported by oversight from people with Down syndrome and representative organisations; 
  • began a major initiative preparing international guidance documents to be used in outreach programmes and to advocate for change;  
  • supported research through funding LuMind Research Down Syndrome Foundation;
  • played a key role supporting the hosts of WDSC 2015 and WDSC 2018;
  • undertook a successful outreach programme at WDSC 2015 involving organisations and people with Down syndrome from 9 countries;
  • consolidated key relationships with the UN, IDA and other relevant organisations to speak on behalf of people with Down syndrome and the global community and
  • ran a successful WDSD campaign with a globally adopted theme, widely seen awareness initiatives and a successful conference.
