We are working with 5 self-advocates with Down syndrome from Bangladesh, Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda and Rwanda to develop webinars about inclusive employment. The 5 self-advocates are each being paid a salary to work with us part-time for 6 months on the project.

The webinars will present best practices related to the inclusive employment of people with intellectual disabilities.

Programme Manager Nathan and Programme Fellow Simon have enjoyed several meetings with our newly recruited self-advocates.

Nathan and Simon are working with the self-advocates to develop the webinars which they will each lead in their own country.

In their latest meeting, the self-advocates shared their ideas about what they each need to do to prepare for their webinar.

For example, the self-advocates agreed that they need to meet with other people with intellectual disabilities in their country to talk about employment.
